Ingredients:

For the Cake:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour🍪
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder🍮
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs🍳
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup hot water😜
  • Pinch of salt
For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened🚣‍♂️
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream 🎂
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 Oreo cookies, crushed (for flavor and texture)🎴
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup (for drizzling)
For the Ganache:
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

Step 1: Make the Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.🎂
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 ½ cups of sugar, ¾ cup cocoa powder, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, 1 cup of buttermilk, ½ cup of vegetable oil, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.🍰
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring well until everything is mixed smoothly.🍨
  5. Add hot water: Slowly add 1 cup of hot water to the batter. It will be thin, but that’s normal!
  6. Bake the cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick—if it comes out clean, the cake is ready!😋
  7. Cool the cakes: Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 2: Make the Ganache

  1. Heat the cream: In a small saucepan, heat ½ cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer.
  2. Add the chocolate chips: Pour the hot cream over 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl.
  3. Mix the ganache: Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Set it aside to cool slightly.

Step 3: Make the Oreo Frosting

  1. Beat the butter: In a mixing bowl, beat 1 cup of softened butter until creamy.
  2. Add powdered sugar: Gradually add 2 cups of powdered sugar, beating continuously until fluffy.
  3. Add cream and Oreos: Add 1 cup of heavy cream and 8 crushed Oreos, and beat until everything is well combined. The frosting should be smooth and fluffy.

Step 4: Assemble the Cake

  1. Layer the cake: Place one cake layer on a plate.😎
  2. Frost the first layer: Spread a thick layer of Oreo frosting on top of the first cake layer.
  3. Add the second layer: Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining Oreo frosting.
  4. Drizzle ganache: Pour the slightly cooled ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  5. Garnish: Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top for decoration.

Step 5: Serve

  • Slice the cake and serve! Enjoy the rich chocolate flavor with creamy frosting and a decadent ganache.
